we are thinking of you

a simple piece I did the other day for a child's funeral service. mini cymbidium, freesias, lime chrysanthe and small headed roses. the heart was only approximately 25cm in diameter -

so very dainty and precious.

every time I make flowers I consider the people who receive them. I hope this would have brought a moment of peace for a sad family. Even if its a happy occasion I still consider the recipients - I hope the fragrance, the flower choice and the presentation will be memorable for them; and I think the positive thoughts I put into the work will stay with the flowers...

formal

phalaenopsis orchid wristlet and buttonhole. backed with a woven mini flax leaf mat. the buttonhole was secured with a magnet, and the wristlet consisted of two mats glued together with a single white ribbon in between - and then left free on either side to tie onto her wrist. a little 'garnish' of ficus root diagonally across the back as well.

Battle of the Florists!

On monday night Interflora District 5 held a fun evening to rival "dancing with the stars!" ...only there was less dancing and more floral art!

Irene Brockwell, Mark Pampling, Bart Hassam, Shauna Larsen, Jessica Barr, John Jones, Marco Apelfeller and Courtney Raven were the Seniors in the "Floral Battle", assisted by students from Southbank Institute of Tafe, and past Florists of the Future and Rising Star Champions....

Being one of the assistants - I was so happy to be able to work with some of Australias' best in a easy, joyful environment and I think fun was had by all!
